Hi, I'm Nyssa and welcome to Just Be Pilates.

I have loved doing fitness for as long as I can remember. From growing up on the farm and seeing my Dad get up every morning to go for a run, to the 35 plus years of keeping my body as fit and strong as possible to play Netball, I absolutely love moving my body and now understand the positive impact this has not only on my own physical wellbeing, but mental health as well.
​
My first ever experience of Pilates came from following along with a DVD, one that I purchased so I could do in the privacy of my own home. If I could tell that version of myself that in 20 years, she would be not only teaching her very own Pilates classes, but opening her own studio, it would have seemed outrageous.

WHAT DOES PILATES DO FOR ME?
Pilates gives me the challenging workout I seek, without the high impact on my joints that 35+ years of hard court sports have done to my knees and Achilles. Pilates helps me to feel strong, both in my body and mind. I love how my body has grown in strength, which has come from a place of consistency and practice.

I am a teacher and over the past five or so years have come to realise that I have been put on this earth to teach and share my skills, passions and knowledge. When I am not teaching at school, being a Pilates instructor or studying my next course, I love getting dressed up for the local races, going camping in our caravan with my family, especially around our local beaches or travelling. With my most recent destination being Fiji for my brother’s 40th Birthday. I am very sensitive to caffeine (1 a day limit here), allergic to tree nuts and absolutely love singing and want to learn to play the guitar much better.

I am strongly drawn to the ocean and don’t think I could really live anywhere else where I couldn’t get to the beach regularly. The stillness it brings out in me on a glassy summers day, to the wild rough and tumble of a winter storm, I love it all.

By offering Pilates in a small town of Streaky Bay I get to experience two of my favourite things to do on a daily basis. See the ocean, keep up with my own practice whilst sharing my love for Pilates with as many members of the community as possible.
